Privacy policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

In short: Umina keeps your financial information only on your phone. It has no accounts, no servers, and never sends your amounts, categories or notes to anyone. The only thing that leaves the device is anonymous usage statistics to improve the app.

This policy applies to the Umina app for iPhone and Android, developed by David Martínez Flores, an independent developer based in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, who publishes under the name emmetre. He is responsible for the data described here.

Your financial information

Everything you enter is stored in a database on your phone and is not sent to any server, ours or anyone else's. The developer has no access to it.

This includes:

Umina doesn't ask for your name, email, phone number or any other personal data, because it has no sign-up or login.

Anonymous usage statistics

Umina uses Google Firebase Analytics to learn which features are used and where to improve the app. This data doesn't identify you by name and never includes amounts, category names, concepts or notes.

What is sentExample
Actions in the app“an expense movement was added”, “a backup was created”, “the lock was turned on”, “the Budgets screen was opened”
General usagethat the app was opened, how long the session lasted, app and system updates
Technical device datamodel, operating system, app version, language
Approximate locationcountry or region, inferred by Google from the connection
Installation identifiera random code that changes if you reinstall the app

Google processes this data on its servers, which may be outside Mexico. Per-device data is kept for at most 14 months; after that it only remains in aggregate reports. More information in Google's privacy policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase.

What we don't do

Phone permissions

The app only asks for the permissions each feature needs, and you can deny or revoke them in your phone's settings.

PermissionWhat forWhat the app receives
NotificationsBackup reminders, daily reminder, recurring movement notices and budget alertsNothing; notifications are scheduled on the phone
Face ID, fingerprint or passcodeOptional app lockOnly a “yes” or “no” from the system; your face or fingerprint never reaches the app
FilesChoosing a backup to restoreOnly the file you choose

Recurring movement and budget notices show the concept and the amount, and can be seen while the phone is locked. If you don't want them to show, turn off notification previews for the app in your phone's settings.

Backups

You create backups yourself, whenever you want, and you choose where to keep them. The app creates a file with your data and hands it to the phone's share menu; from there you decide whether it goes to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, your email or somewhere else. That service handles the file under its own privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Your financial data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can delete movements or categories in the app, and uninstalling it erases everything it stored. Backups you saved outside the app are deleted by you, wherever you saved them.

Since all your information is in your hands, you can view, correct or delete it at any time. Usage statistics aren't tied to your name or an account, so we can't look up a single person's; they are deleted automatically within 14 months at most.

Children

Umina is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect information from them. Since the app doesn't ask for personal data, it doesn't store the age of the person using it either.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll publish the new version on this same page with its update date. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
